IT MAY NOT BE CONVENIENT
It may not be convenient to take the detour, the I-don’t-know-where-I’m-goingwandering way. To stand a little longerin sun-soaked arms even if theyhave to wait.It may not be convenient to press pause on a lifegoing wildly too fast—to go back if you’ve taken toomany steps forward, to drink a cold glass of water slowly—just because.Don’t let them hurry you. It is your pace you must find. It’s okay if you’re late because you needto scribble down a few more words, sing hallelujahwith the seabirds, hold her hand just a little bit longer.Let them wait.Maybe today is the day you’ll light the candle, openthe good bottle of wine, write love letters in the sandeven though the tide will come and wash them away.Maybe today is the day you’ll seethat lifeis conveniently right here.

Enjoy Dennis Kucinich’s wisdom below.
“Mr. Speaker, we make war with such certainty, yet we are befuddled how to create peace. This paradox requires reflection if we are to survive. Making and endorsing war requires a secret love of death, and a fearful desire to embrace annihilation. Creating peace requires compassion, putting ourselves in the other person’s place, and all of their suffering and all of their hopes and to act from our heart’s capacity to love, not fear.”

"Don’t let them hurry you. It is your pace you must find." This invitation, this encouragement from Julia Fehrenbacher is a helpful reminder. In addition to finding my own path, I have my own pace. Within a culture often defined or ruled by speed -- one wherein efficiency is measured by speed -- I am mindful of the value of slowing down, living life at my own pace.
